On Wednesday October 28, 2015, The Laxworm Show aired on MLL Radio a show that would raise money for a 14 year old lacrosse player, Sean Dixon. Sean was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an agreesive form of bone cancer, he has been battling the disease ever since. "Patches" as he is called has his biggest challenge ahead of him, bigger than most of us will ever have to experience. When you think about the magnitude of this for a 14 year old, it seems inconceivable for a child to handle but Patches has no choice. On his gofundme.com/6359pweg account the narrative is as follows;
"This is Sean, better known as " Patches", an amazing, vibrant, 14 year old young man, who was recently diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer. Sean is full of life, an amazing son, an excellent student, and a lover of many sports including skiing, mountain biking, baseball, and lacrosse. This horrific tragedy was sudden and unexpected.
We, his family, friends, and community are asking for any and all donations to assist him and his family in their time of need. Sean is a fighter and will overcome!"
Laxworm reached out to the lacrosse community to fill an hour long show only needing 4 -5 guests, yet the response was overwhelming. "Laxworm" as he is know, said he received over 20 requests to be part of the show which extended his usual one hour show into a 3 hour parade of the best players and coaches in the sport. Not only did these players and coaches come on the show and chat with Laxworm but they donated some great items for an auction that would be donated to help cover Sean's medical expenses.
"As a parent you cant comprehend what Sean's parent must be going through nor can you understand the emotions that plague them each day but I can help in any way its the least I can do!" said Michael Sportini of Laxworm.
Good luck in your battle Sean the entire lacrosse community is here for you.
