Pomperaug 94 - Brookfield 82

Friday night the states third ranked team invited an SWC rival over to have a little swim meet, Pomperaug v Brookfield.  As an opponent, walking into the Pomperaug pool must be an intimidating experience with the multitude of banners hung on the walls of conference championships, state championships, all-state swimmers and All-American swimmers the history of a storied program in your face!  If the banners don’t shake you the 70 swimmers dressed in red and black  walking out of the locker room chanting “P”…”P”…”P”…is sure to mess with your head.  Some might say it’s all window dressing but not in Southbury these guys can back it up!

Pomperaug over powered Brookfield by posting some of the top ten times in the state to date.  William Regan kicked of his blistering night with a 1:58.42 200 IM which stands as the fastest IM in the state.  Regan then threw down 4:48.18 500 Free time for his second win of the evening another top three time is the state.  Dan McNamara showed why he is one of the top swimmers in the state by popping a 22.00 in the 50 Free and a 48.17 in the 100 Free both top three times in the state for the season.  Understand, the defending Class M champs are going to be tough to beat in March.
